Dear Parents of First Holy Communion Students:

We are excited to have your child enrolled in the First Holy Communion (FHC) class. It will be a year of great growth in your child’s faith and yours as well. Your child will be receiving two Sacraments this year: Reconciliation and Holy Communion. Your participation in your child’s journey is essential and strongly encouraged. Your children meet with the teacher once a week, but they are with you daily; you are their primary role models and teachers. This is a partnership and we need to work together!

There are four FHC classes this year, one on Saturday at 5 pm (Rugby class), and two on Sunday at 10am (FHC A and FHC B). There is also a class of older students (FHC older) that will be pulled out of their regular CCD classes for FHC instruction several times during the school year.

The attached document highlights the important dates and other information relevant to your child’s participation in FHC this year. Please download and save this letter for your reference.

St. Anne’s Religious Education Team 

Welcome back everyone.  We are excited to start the new year with your children.  Please be aware of the following:

• Classes will begin on September 7^th.
• An email will go out this week with class assignments.  Please be on the lookout for it.
• Books will be distributed on the first day of class.

The CCD Team welcomes back all of our parish families. We would also like to remind you that registration for this year's program closes on August 29^th. Classes start on September 7^th.   Class books will be distributed by teachers on first day of class

Payment is due by August 31^st in order to complete the registration process.

Class fees for the coming year will be HKD 500 per student, except First Holy Communion (YOB 2007) and Confirmation Classes (YOB 2001), for which the fees will be HKD 1,000.

The cheque should be payable to St. Anne’s Church and bear student names and dates of birth on the back.

Confirmation Students/Families can collect their doves from the CCD office on June 1^st from 10:00AM to 11:00AM. 

FHC Students/Families can collect their banners at the back of the church after both Masses on June 1^st and June 8^th.

Father John recognized St. Anne's religious education teachers at the Teachers Appreciation Mass on May 4th.

We are blessed with such dedicated volunteer teachers!

Mandatory Rehearsal on Sunday, May 18^th at 2:00PM. One parent must be present. Please be on time as we cannot start till all the students are present.

Communion on Saturday, May 24^th at 11:30AM.  Students must be in the Parish Hall no later than 10:30AM.

Group 2 - Mia De Leon/Karla Molina and Sylvia Shu's classes

Students of the First Holy Communion preparation classes sing "Jesus Loves Me" at their First Reconciliation Ceremony

A First Communion banner is a special family project in which the children of the First Communion Classes have the opportunity to work with their parents to create a visual sign of what First Communion means to them as well as the ways in which they experience God’s love.  These banners will be displayed in the church on the day of the First Communion Masses and will remain in the Church for one week thereafter.  

Each child is required to have a banner with his or her first and last name displayed on it, along with any of the many symbols of the Eucharist or God’s love for us.  Banners must be completed and brought to class on or before Sunday April 13th, 2014.

Instructions and banner kits will be available for purchase from the CCD office during CCD classes for a fee of HKD 80 from February 23 through March 23.  Exact change would be much appreciated!  Once again, thank you for your cooperation.

On Saturday, January 25^th, our CCD students participated in their First Reconciliation Service.

Thank you to the CCD teachers and students, Desmond, the music ministry and parents who volunteered to make it a very special day.  

On Sunday, January 26^th, the 4^th Grade CCD class sponsored the 11:15AM mass. 

This weekend, January 18th and 19th, twenty-two of our young people are on retreat in preparation for receiving the sacrament of Confirmation. 

Please pray for an outpouring of grace and Spirit upon them, their parents and the retreat leaders.

Reminders:

• Sunday, January 12^th - CCD classes resume.  Confirmation Class parents meeting for Confirmation Retreat at 10:00AM in the Parish Hall.
• Saturday, January 18^th 10:00AM - Father John gives church tour for First Holy Communion students in preparation for First Reconciliation
• Saturday, January 25^th - First Reconciliation Ceremony.  Students must arrive by 1:00PM.  Parent volunteers needed to assist with distribution and collection of stoles, coordination of post ceremony reception, and other tasks.  If interested, please email Nini Forino at This email address is being protected from spambots. Parents of First Holy Communion students who have not been baptized should contact Father John as soon as possible to make arrangements for their children.
