World Communication Day

The 48th World Communications Day will be celebrated on the Solemnity of the Ascension, 1 June 2014. The main theme is “Communication at the Service of an Authentic Culture of Encounter”.

In accordance with the usual practice, a second collection for the promotion of the media apostolate in our diocese is to be taken up at all public Masses the weekend of May 31 - June1.

Farewell Reception on Sunday, June 8th

The parish will sponsor a small reception after the 11:15AM Mass on Sunday, June 8th, to wish farewell to those persons and families who will be leaving leave our parish community before the start of the new school year in August, and to give those same persons an opportunity to bid their farewells to us.

Depending on weather, the reception will be held either in the schoolyard or the parish hall.

Mother's Day

Whether you have children or not, whether those children are grown or not, our parish community has been blessed by you all in the many ways, big and small, acknowledged or unrecognized, that you have consistently encouraged and supported us so willingly and so abundantly with motherly concern, care and affection.

The Catholic Women’s League is here to sell Raffle Tickets for their Annual Fund Raising. 

All proceeds will go to their charity works for the less fortunate ones, the students and the elderly.

Wednesday Evening Mass During Lent

During Lent only, there will be a Mass on Wednesday evenings at 7:30PM, followed immediately at 8:00PM by the Stations of the Cross.

Please join us for either prayer time, or for both.

Confessions Before Easter

Time has been set aside for confession on Wednesday evening, April 16th, following the Stations of the Cross.  

I join with Pope Francis in strongly urging you to take advantage of one of these opportunities to receive this very important Sacrament of Reconciliation before Holy Week and Easter.

Volunteer Needed

The English Speaking Parish Council is seeking a volunteer who could serve as Secretary for the once-monthly meeting of the Council.

The tasks involved are: recording minutes at the meeting, subsequently including any amendments to those minutes offered by Council Members, and ensuring a copy of the minutes for the parish files. Meetings of the English Speaking Parish Council take place on the second Tuesday of every month (except Summer) from 7:45PM.

Parents with Young Adult Children

Parents with Young Adult Children
Parents from St. Anne's with young adult children are invited to join an ongoing discussion group sponsored by Generation Life and hosted by Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish in Wan Chai.

The meeting offers support to parents in encouraging their kids in their emotional and spiritual life, helping them to articulate their identity, and to understand their emerging sexuality and the purpose of life.  Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church is located at #1 Star Street, directly behind Pacific Place Three.

USA Girl Scout Sunday, March 9th
The USA Girl Scouts in St Anne's Parish will host a mini Hospitality table from 9:40AM to 10:00AM at the conclusion of 8:45AM Mass this Sunday, March 9th, in recognition of Girl Scout Sunday.

On this special day, Girl Scouts all over the world celebrate the connection between Girl Scouts and their faith, and reflect upon the importance of the words, "On my honor, I will try to serve God" from the Girl Scout Promise.

USA Girl Scout Sunday, March 9th
Girl Scouts throughout the world will mark Girl Scout Week (9th -15th March).  March 9th will be recognized Girl Scout Sunday in a few churches and temples throughout Hong Kong Island.  The purpose of this special day is to reflect upon the importance of the words "To serve God" and "To help people at all times" as recited in the Girl Scout Promise. 

USA Girl Scouts in St Anne's Parish will host a small hospitality table from 9:40AM to 10:00AM on March 9th at the conclusion of 8.45AM Mass.  Girls may perform a service during Mass such as greeting, ushering as well as make contributions and serve at the Hospitality Table on the day.  Girl Scouts are encouraged to wear their Girl Scout vests on the day to Church.

15th Annual Christian Women's Conference

15th Annual Christian Women's Conference
The 15th Annual Christian Women's Conference (CWC) will be held on Saturday, March 8th, at the Hong Kong International School

CWC is designed for women of all cultures and walks of life to celebrate their faith in Christ and share the spirit of joy and worship.

This one-day conference is organized by Christian women across Hong Kong.

Please come refresh your spirit, nourish your soul, and make a new friend. Complete information for registration can be found on the bulletin board outside the parish office.

6th Asian Youth Day

6th Asian Youth Day
Hong Kong's Diocesan Youth Commission (DYC) will be leading a delegation of 100 to the 6th Asian Youth Day held in Daejeon, Korea this coming 10th -18th of August

For the first time, applications from any English-speaking young Catholics will also be accepted, as Diocesan English Youth (DEY) will be part of the delegation this year.

DEY are hoping to gather a handful of English-speaking young people active in their parish or ministry from across the diocese to experience Asian Youth Day together.

Please refer to the DYC poster, DEY flyer and application form at the back of the church and share the news with any potential young adults interested!

DEY -Fifth Joint Youth Eucharistic Celebration

There will be a Diocesan English Youth (DEY) quarterly youth fellowship and joint-mass on Sunday, the 23rd February, hosted by Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Wanchai.

Fellowship will be in the form of an “Amazing Race” starting outside City Hall at 2.45PM. Mass will be at 6:00PM.

Second Collection in Support of the Hong Kong Central Council of Catholic Laity

With the permission of Cardinal John Tong, there will be a Second Collection in all parishes during each Sunday Mass, on the 8th and 9th of February for the Hong Kong Central Council of Catholic Laity. The money thus collected will be used in support of the Council’s work of Evangelization and Laity Formation.

Introductory Class for Parents on the Theology of the Body

A new class is beginning in February that will introduce parents to the Theology of the Body (John Paul II).  Learn how how to support your youngsters to live a lifestyle that leads to real freedom and that respects their own dignity and the dignity of the opposite sex!

When?  Tuesday, February 11 at 1:30PM and more Tuesdays.

Where?  Our Lady of Mt Carmel, No. 1 Star Street, Wan Chai

We will learn first that 'we are called for greatness',  what will bring the happiness we all long for, why we were created male and female, and what is the meaning of life!
